Another Horst with Hats

Horst P Horst

I am a lumberjack and I'm pretty stylish.

Not sure about "cool"

This is the law. But as a proud American from the sticks, I always root for Bonnie and Clyde/John Dillinger.
They still look ready to take care of some m%&^@$ing business.

I think this is becoming the "cool" people who wear hats. Plus occasional half naked girls in hats just for fun blog.

Machine Gun Kelly

Another Famous Writer

Love the style! I guess anyone who is famous for his balls has to be stylish.

Jim Carroll

So as I have mentioned, I am from Oklahoma. Being from the sticks, I have always been fascinated by William Burroughs, Hubert Selby Jr., Jack Kerouac, etc. junkie/ex-junkie NYC style writers. Among these Jim Carroll was a favorite. I also had his 1st record which I played VERY loudly on constant repeat for most of my formative years. Ironically, last week I watched Basketball Diaries with my GF. I told her all about Mr. Carroll and his books and poetry. That was a special time in this country when a great writer could become famous because of his/her writing. It kind of reminds me of Damon Dash's recent passing. Always sad when a great artist leaves us. Who remains? The less adventurous? As I like to say, where is our Bob Dylan?

R.I.P Jim Carroll

Native American

If you are a hat wearer, and I hope you are, this is the way to go. Although if you are leaving the house in a major city you may want to put the six shooter away before you go.

Capsule Show

So I was just in Sunny Las Vegas doing the Capsule show. It was a great show. I've done many a trade show over the years and I have to give it up to Chris and his team. They did a great job. I also want to give a shout out to all of the vendors who participated. All of whom had great product and were very nice. I met lots of bloggers who were great to talk to and were also very cool. I look forward to the next one.

My Uncles Knife

So I found this on Ebay as I was curious about the knife my Uncle gave me. He served with Distinction during Korea and Vietnam. I was given a knife exactly like the one on the left for my fourteenth birthday. I use it in a more peaceful way to open letters. It reminds me every day of the sacrifices of the men and women of the military. And how easy I have it compared to them. If you want this one:

Opening Ceremony LA

Get yourself on over to Opening Ceremony. They are having an amazing sale on Spring. I bought a truly great Band of Outsiders suit (made by Martin Greenfield, see my earlier post). Super stoked! Plus they just opened a new accessories store. They have great lines, a great buy, and some of the nicest sales people around.

More Cowboy Pictures

Cowboys

My background as an Oklahoman seems to surprise some people. My Dad was a legitimate cowboy, he went to rodeos (as a header), he broke horses, he owned cattle. I think he is a lot of the reason that I am a straight guy in the fashion industry. Cowboys are one of the few American subcultures that allow the members to be both macho/bad ass and stylish/vain. If you've ever been to a rodeo you know what I mean. Just before these guys get on a huge mean bull that is going to throw them onto the dirt covered ground they are sporting starched white shirts, pressed wranglers, and a clean perfectly fitted Stetson. If you are looking for true American style look no further than the cowboy.

Cowboy's are still bad ass

Capsule Tradeshow

So the great people at Capsule are going to maybe feature my line on their site. I am very stoked, but they are asking some good questions. Things like who is your inspiration and what are you looking forward to? These are deep questions and are going to require a lot of thought.
